The Story Behind this Painting
For Florence, this portrait represents hope for a more just, a more prosperous, more inclusive, secure, moral, and stable America. In preparation for painting this portrait, Florence referenced photos she took during TV appearances and rallies she attended. The photographs she used most were shots she took of a television broadcast of Trump’s State-of-the-Union Address where the Speaker of the House attempts to upstage the President by tearing up his written speech on national television. The Speaker’s act did nothing but completely extinguish what little respect anyone might have had while simultaneously and forever esteeming President Trump. That moment served as the framework for this portrait. Florence painted the original 24” x 20”, Donald J Trump, President of the USA, on archival quality oil-on-Belgian-canvas in 2020.
