The Story Behind this Painting

Inspired by the old masters’ paintings of women relaxing in the boudoir, Florence began this work by taking photos of her daughter in a reclined position.  A boudoir is a woman's private sitting room or salon deriving from the French verb boudoir (sulking) as the room was originally a space for sulking in or to withdraw to. The relaxed style and contrasting fine detail of the full body painting was a unique challenge that ended-up taking Florence much longer than her other works. The viewer's gaze enters the painting with the folds of the flowing garment, moves to the ruffle of the pillow, and finally settles on the subject’s crystal clear eyes.  Florence painted the original 24” x 48” oil-on-canvas in 1998 and titled it Boudoir in BlueShips rolled in a protective tube.

Hahnemuhle Daguerre Fine Art Rolled Canvas ~  Images are highly detailed on this superior quality canvas. Hahnemuhle Daguerre Fine Art Canvas meets the most exacting requirements in terms of quality and age resistance. This rolled fine art canvas giclée print is not stretched over wood bars. The canvas print has a 2" (two inch) mirrored edge allowing it to be stretched on wooden bars. The artwork image is mirrored onto the sides of the canvas enabling the canvas to either be 1) stretched as a standard wrap and placed in a frame  OR  2) stretched as a gallery wrap and hung on the wall with no frame (although some people do frame gallery wraps). Hahnemuhle Daguerre Fine Art Canvas produces clean, fresh colors, fine details, and reproductions that are rich in contrast. A print of an oil painting on this type of canvas looks very close to the original.
